The Lord’s Prayer!
By Riqui Ricón*And he said unto them, When ye
pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in
earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also
forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but
deliver us from evil (Luke 11:2-4, KJV).
The disciples, like millions of people today, desired to have a relationship with God as personal as the one they saw
Jesus himself had; so they asked him to teach them to pray—that is, to teach
them how to talk with God.
The Lord Jesus gives us here the fundamental teaching to
learn the necessary starting point for any possible
relationship with God through Jesus
Christ. And that is: God looks
at you, considers you, and calls you His own Child!
See how much our heavenly Father
loves us that he allows us to be called children of God. And the most wonderful thing is that we truly are! Naturally, since most people do not know
God, they do not understand why we are (1 John
3:1, closest to NLT).
If God looks at you, considers you, and calls you His own Child, then you must
accept it and believe it, regardless of the condition you find yourself in.
Since it is not what you have done or are
doing, nor how you feel or see yourself, that defines your relationship with
God, but rather what He says in His Word that this relationship now is—thanks
to Jesus—any attempt at communion with God where you feel guilty
or unworthy instead
of a beloved Child will always be a vain attempt, for it is
superficial and contrary to the Word of God.
For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John
3:16-17, KJV).
Always remember that God loves you so much that He preferred
to give up His own Son rather
than lose you.
Now, it is
curious to note how, in Jesus' time, the words one spoke carried
a real and non-figurative weight and meaning. Back then, saying that God was
your father meant literally that: that the Almighty God was your father and,
therefore, you have His same nature. The Bible teaches us that this was the
main reason they crucified Jesus.
Therefore the Jews sought
the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God
was his Father, making himself equal with God (John 5:18,
KJV).
Then the Jews took up stones
again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Jesus answered them, Is it not
written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the
word of God came, and the scripture
cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into
the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said,
I am the Son of God? (John 10:31-36, KJV).
I think the Jews were not so much bothered that He healed the sick
on the Sabbath, because, in truth, they were not entirely respectful of that
rule themselves. What really
infuriated them was that Jesus
referred to God as His own Father and that, naturally, Jesus
truly believed it.
As I was saying, it is curious that today words are almost
figurative. It seems that nowadays, calling oneself a child of God only means
being alive or being part of the human race. However, the Bible, which is God's
Word of Honor, teaches us that the Children
of God are those who have believed
and received Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior of their lives; they are those who, through this act of faith,
have been regenerated by the same
power that raised Jesus from the dead; those who, by the Blood of Jesus, have a
full right to a new life, but now, no longer as creatures, but as Born-Again
Children of God.
This is what the Lord's Prayer truly means.
This is the most amazing and valuable of Jesus'
teachings: that you are a Child of God; that you are loved by the Father and, therefore, you can
approach Him with full certainty and confidence, because the relationship you
and He have is a relationship of Father and Child.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread
of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish,
will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer
him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them
that ask him? (Luke 11:9-13, KJV).
How much God loves you! You are a legitimate Child of the King of
kings and Lord of lords! You will never be alone again! Now you have a Father who takes
care of you!
Let’s pray out loud:
Abba, Father! Beloved God,
today I can, with full certainty and absolute confidence, call You my Father.
Thank You, Lord, for such a great love, that while I was dead in trespasses and
sins, You gave me life together with Christ Jesus. By Grace I am saved! Lord
Jesus, Your precious Blood was shed on that cross so that I might be justified;
Your resurrection opened the way to Eternal Life so that I might be adopted as
a Child of God, according to the good pleasure of His Will. Thank You so much, Lord Jesus! I am an heir of God and a
joint-heir with Christ!
I have been predestined to be conformed
to Your image, my Lord Jesus Christ, so that now
You are my older brother. Thank You, thank You very much, Lord. Because of
this, because of Your love for me, I believe and declare that I, (your name here), am healed! I am
free! I am prosperous! I am a Child of God! I am happy! Thank You, Father! I
bless Your Name and declare that the
best of my life has already begun. In ALL
things I am more than a conqueror! I can do all things through Christ! Greater
is He that is in me than he that is in the world! And though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil, for You are with me; Your rod
and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare
a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;
my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and in Your
house, Lord, in Your Presence, I
will dwell for long days. In the
name of Jesus. Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice
that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News, which are
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

4 And forgive

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend,
and shall go unto
him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 For a friend of mine in his journey
is come to me, and I have nothing to set

7 And he from within

8 I say unto you,
Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because
of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall

14 And he was casting
out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb
spake; and the people wondered.
15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through
Beelzebub the chief of
the devils.
16 And others,
tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,
Every kingdom divided against itself is brought
to desolation; and a house
divided against a house
falleth.
18 If Satan also be divided against
himself, how shall his kingdom
stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils,
by whom do your sons cast them out?
therefore shall they be your judges.
20 But if I with the finger
of God cast out devils,
no doubt the kingdom of God
is come upon you.
21 When a strong man armed keepeth

22 But when a stronger
than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he
taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
23 He that is not with me is against
me: and he that gathereth
not with me scattereth.
24 When the unclean
spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking
rest; and finding
none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
25 And when he cometh,
he findeth it swept and garnished.
26 Then goeth he,
and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
27 And it came to
pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted
up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast
sucked.
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed
are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Genesis
19 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate
of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said,
Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go
on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly;
and they turned in unto him, and entered
into his house; and he made them a feast, and did
bake unleavened bread,
and they did eat.
4 But before they
lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every
quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where
are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them
out unto us, that we may know them.
6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters
which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do
ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for
therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 And they said,
Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge:
now will we deal worse with thee, than
with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break
the door.
10 But the men put forth their
hand, and pulled
Lot into the house to them,
and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness,
both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou
hast in the city, bring them out of
this place:
13 For we will destroy
this place, because
the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
14 And Lot went out,
and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place;
for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that
mocked unto his sons in law.
15 And when the
morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed
in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered,
the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his
two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and
they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to
pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither
stay thou in all the plain;
escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto
them, Oh, not so, my LORD:
19 Behold now, thy
servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I
cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little
one: Oh, let me
escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this
city, for the which thou hast spoken.
22 Haste thee, escape thither;
for I cannot do anything
till thou be come
thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered
into Zoar.
24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon
the ground.
26 But his wife looked
back from behind
him, and she became a pillar of
salt.
27 And Abraham
gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood
before the LORD:
28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke
of the country went up as the smoke
of a furnace.
29 And it came to
pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham,
and sent Lot out of the midst
of the overthrow, when he
overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30 And Lot went up
out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he
and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us
after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father
drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we
may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn
went in, and lay with her
father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to
pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay
yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of
our father.
35 And they made
their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down,
nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab:
the same is the
father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called
his name Benammi:
the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
Psalm
12 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful
fail from among the
children of men.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips,
and the tongue that speaketh
proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue
will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is
lord over us?
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him
in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace
of earth, purified seven
times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O
LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation
for ever.

shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
8 I say unto you,
Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because
of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it
shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread
of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for
a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer
him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to
them that ask him?
14 And he was casting
out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb
spake; and the people wondered.
15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through
Beelzebub the chief of
the devils.
16 And others,
tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,
Every kingdom divided against itself is brought
to desolation; and a house
divided against a house
falleth.
18 If Satan also be divided against
himself, how shall his kingdom
stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils,
by whom do your sons cast them out?
therefore shall they be your judges.
20 But if I with the finger
of God cast out devils,
no doubt the kingdom of God
is come upon you.
21 When a strong man armed keepeth
his palace, his goods are in peace:
Genesis
19 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate
of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said,
Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go
on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly;
and they turned in unto him, and entered
into his house; and he made them a feast, and did
bake unleavened bread,
and they did eat.
14 And Lot went out,
and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place;
for the LORD will destroy this city.
17 And it came to
pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither
stay thou in all the plain;
escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
22 Haste thee, escape thither;
for I cannot do anything
till thou be come
thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered
into Zoar.
24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation
for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
