How to Live by FAITH!
Faith is Believing! Faith is Believing God!
By Riqui Ricón*
Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed
by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which
do appear... But without
faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek him. (Hebrews 11:1, 3, 6, KJV)
When talking with believers about faith, I often point out that EVERYTHING not done in faith is sin, and they almost
always show great consternation and surprise. They resist such a statement with
questions and arguments like:
"That’s not possible, Riqui Ricón; it
sounds like we have to be mindful of our faith
every single second
we live"; "How
can you think God wants that from us,
to believe at every moment?" "Aren't you over-spiritualizing things?
Look, it’s fine in church—that’s what we’re supposed to do—but to believe at
every moment in our daily lives?"
Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before
God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he
alloweth. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of
faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. (Romans
14:22-23, KJV)
Thinking that faith is a spiritual attitude
to be adopted only during
church activities—like services, prayer meetings, talks with the pastor,
and the occasional gathering with other Christians—will only put you at a total
disadvantage in fulfilling God's plan and purpose for your life.
How happy are those who find their strength
in you, who set their hearts on your paths! (6) As they pass through
the Valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs when the rain fills the
pools. (Psalm 84:5-6, NIV)
God's plan
and purpose for your life is very simple
and wonderful: that you live a life in His fullness, an abundant life full of
joy, peace, and victory. That you live the Eternal
Life of a Born-Again child of God, SO THAT you may be a light to those living in darkness; SO THAT you
may cross the valley of tears and change it into springs of water springing up
to Eternal Life.
The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
(John 10:10, KJV)
The life of a Born-Again child of God must, necessarily, be a full and abundant life.
Being honest with God and yourself, ask
yourself: How long has it been since I experienced true joy? How long since I
enjoyed a lasting victory? How long since I had peace in my heart?
If the thief only comes to steal,
kill, and destroy, and Jesus has come to give me an
abundant life, what is the reason that this abundant life continually escapes
me?
If this is your case, I can assure you that the answer to all these questions is the
same: You are not living by faith! And it is necessary for you to live by
faith, for the just shall live by his
faith. (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38, KJV)
Now then, what is faith? It is the substance
of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. But how can you be sure
of something you don't see? How can you be convinced that you will receive what
you are waiting for? I mean, you have the medical report
in your hand,
or you were just served
a lawsuit, or your child left home, or you just
fought with your spouse, or you are trapped by some addiction.
How can you call things
that are not as though
they were, if you have all the evidence of what they actually ARE?
I like this question because its answer is
beautifully simple: despite all the evidence
and its force, you can be sure of the opposite (of that which you do not see) only if God has said it.
That’s right—despite all the evidence
against you, you are (and always will be)
the person God says you are in the Bible. Without a shadow of a doubt!
God is not a man, that he should
lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken,
and shall he not
make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath
blessed; and I cannot reverse it. (Numbers 23:19-20, KJV)
Just remember that God is the Almighty and
nothing is impossible for Him, except lying. Every
word that comes out of God's mouth
has the power within itself to
be fulfilled, because it is the Word of God.
And when Jesus was entered into
Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord,
my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus
saith unto him, I will come and heal
him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest
come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to
another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When
Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto
you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. (Matthew
8:5-10, KJV)
Jesus marveled at the faith of this Roman soldier!
Paraphrasing the conversation between the
centurion and Jesus a bit, it goes something like this: "Lord, I know that
You are God and therefore nothing is impossible for You, and You also have all authority over everything; therefore, I don't need You to come to my
house, just say the Word and my servant
will be healed. Your Word has
all authority. Come on, You are God! Your Word is a Word of Honor!"
So, effectively, today
you can have the substance of what you are waiting
for and the conviction of that which you do not yet see. No matter the gravity of the matter, illness, or problem, it is
enough that you have a Word from the Lord and a miracle will happen.
Always remember that, through Christ
Jesus, you are a child of God, and if your
Father said it, then He will fulfill it; if God spoke it, then He will execute
it.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed
by the word of God, so that things which are seen were
not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews
11:3, KJV)
Faith is believing God by believing
His Word, the Bible.
Faith
is believing God by believing His Word in such a way that, precisely because of that, you can now call those
things which be not as though they were. (Romans 4:17, KJV)
Faith is understanding that the Word of God
is complete, eternal, and infallible;
it is being convinced that you will NEVER be put to shame for having trusted
the Bible (Psalm 119:42), because EVERYTHING that exists, whether visible or invisible, has its origin
in the Word of God. In such a way, that full and
abundant life that has been promised to you will become the material substance
of what you do not yet see through your FAITH [by believing God, believing His
Word].
For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16,
KJV)
When you understand that by being Born Again
you have received Eternal Life and that this means living forever or, better
said, NEVER DYING, then the "how" and "when" of the
fulfillment of the promises becomes secondary, because you know that you know that heaven
and earth will pass away, but His Words will not pass away.
So, if according to the Bible—which is the
Word of God and cannot lie—you are righteous, made the righteousness of God, of
course you can live by faith every moment of your life! Of course you can
please God, your Father, by waiting patiently, constantly, and persistently for EVERYTHING He has already promised you in His Word!
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful
that promised). (Hebrews 10:23, KJV)
Let’s pray out loud:
Beloved heavenly Father, today I want to
please You with my faith, for I truly believe that You are the creator of the
universe, of everything visible and invisible.
I believe that You love
me so much that You
preferred to give up Your own Son,
Jesus, rather than lose me. I believe and receive this great Love with which
You love me. Thank You, Lord Jesus; because of what You did by dying on that cross and rising again, I have
Eternal Life. You have made me a child of God.
I know that, even though I was dead
in my trespasses and sins,
because of this great Love
with which You loved me, You gave me life together with Christ Jesus; by Your
Grace I am saved through faith, and even the latter is not mine but is a gift
from You. How Great and Beautiful You are, my Lord! How wonderful is Your Love for
me! In this hour, I agree with Your Eternal and Infallible Word to believe and
declare that, through the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus, I believe and
receive my healing. I declare myself free from all ailment and disease. I speak
health and well-being to every cell, tissue, organ, and system of my being. I
declare myself free from any type of addiction that has tried to enslave me. I
reject all fear, for I have not received the spirit of bondage to be in fear
again, but I have received the spirit of adoption and today I can say, Abba,
Father. I set my eyes, emotions, and feelings on You, Lord Jesus, who are the
author and finisher of my faith. I am healed! I am free! I am prosperous! I am
more than a conqueror! I can do all things through Christ! And, by the Blood of
Jesus, I am blessed to live a full and abundant life. Thank You very much, Lord
Jesus. Thank You for this New Life in Fullness that I now have. Thank You for
my healing. Thank You for my health. Thank You for my prosperity. Thank You for
the Love, peace, and joy that I now enjoy. Thank You because through Your Word,
the Bible, without a doubt, I am and I receive all this that I have declared
before Your Presence. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice
that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News, which are
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God
Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the
entire Bible.
February 15 Hebrews 11.1-22/
Exodus 13-14 / Proverbs 5 Hebrews
11 Now faith is the substance
of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained
a good report.
3 Through faith we
understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith
Abel offered unto God a more excellent
sacrifice than Cain, by which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by
it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch
was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because
God had translated him: for before
his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith
it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah,
being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared
an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of
the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham,
when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive
for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith
he sojourned in the land of promise,
as in a strange country,
dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the
same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose
builder and maker is
God.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received
strength to conceive
seed, and was delivered of a child when she was
past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as
the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13 These all died in faith, not having received
the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of
them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on
the earth.
14 For they that say such things
declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country
from whence they came
out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire
a better country,
that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed
to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
17 By faith
Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had
received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac
shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a
figure.
20 By faith Isaac blessed
Jacob and Esau concerning things
to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying,
blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of
his staff.
22 By faith
Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing
of the children of Israel; and
gave commandment concerning his bones.
Exodus
13 And the LORD spake
unto Moses, saying,
2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the
children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
3 And Moses said unto the people,
Remember this day, in which ye came out
from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be
eaten.
4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring
thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites,
and the Jebusites, which he sware unto
thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt
keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh
day shall be a feast to the LORD.
7 Unleavened bread
shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither
shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy
quarters.
8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying,
This is done because of that
which the LORD did unto me when I came
forth out of Egypt.
9 And it shall be
for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong
hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season
from year to year.
11 And it shall be
when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the
Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
12 That thou shalt
set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix,
and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall
be the LORD's.
13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break
his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
14 And it shall be
when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out
from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
15 And it came to
pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us
go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn
in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the
firstborn of beast: therefore
I sacrifice to the
LORD
all that openeth
the matrix, being males; but
all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between
thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth
out of Egypt.
17 And it came to
pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way
of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about,
through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went
up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the
children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my
bones away hence with you.
20 And they took their
journey from Succoth,
and encamped in Etham, in the
edge of the wilderness.
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them
the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and
night:
22 He took not away the pillar
of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
14 And the LORD spake
unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the
children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between
Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye
encamp by the sea.
3 For Pharaoh
will say of the children
of Israel, They are entangled
in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart,
that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon
all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
5 And it was told
the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against
the people, and they said,
Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6
And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh
king of Egypt, and he pursued
after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
9 But the Egyptians pursued
after them, all the horses
and chariots of Pharaoh,
and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside
Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted
up their eyes,
and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore
afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
11 And they said
unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken
us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of
Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that
we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the
Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13 And Moses said
unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which
he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians
whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall
hold your peace.
15 And the LORD said unto Moses,
Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go
forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch
out thine hand over the sea, and divide
it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow
them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his
chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the
LORD, when I have gotten me
honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of
God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before
their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between
the camp of the Egyptians
and the camp of Israel;
and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to
these: so that the one came
not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses
stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night,
and made the sea dry land,
and the waters were divided.
22 And the children
of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued,
and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his
chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to
pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the
host of the Egyptians through
the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled
the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off
their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel;
for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the LORD said unto Moses,
Stretch out thine
hand over the sea, that the
waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their
horsemen.
27 And Moses
stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength
when the morning
appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and
the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned,
and covered the chariots, and the horsemen,
and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked
upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and
the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

Faith is understanding that the Word of God
is complete, eternal, and infallible;
it is being convinced that you will NEVER be put to shame for having trusted
the Bible (Psalm 119:42), because EVERYTHING that exists, whether visible or invisible, has its origin
in the Word of God.

20 And it came between
the camp of the Egyptians
and the camp of Israel;
and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to
these: so that the one came
not near the other all the night.
24 And it came to
pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the
host of the Egyptians through
the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled
the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off
their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel;
for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
Proverbs
5 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 That thou mayest regard
discretion, and that thy lips may keep
knowledge.
3 For the lips of a strange
woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is
smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death;
her steps take hold on hell.
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable,
that thou canst not know them.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children,
and depart not from the words of my
mouth.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Lest strangers
be filled with thy wealth;
and thy labours
be in the house of a
stranger;
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters
out of thine own well.
16
Let thy fountains
be dispersed abroad,
and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with
thee.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving
hind and pleasant
roe; let her breasts satisfy
thee at all times; and be thou
ravished always with her love.
20 And why wilt thou,
my son, be ravished with a strange
woman, and embrace the bosom
of a stranger?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth
all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself,
and he shall be holden with
the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without
instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall
go astray.
