How to Reach Wisdom!

How to Reach Wisdom!

By Believing!

By Riqui Ricón*

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. (Proverbs 9:10-11, KJV)

The best way I have found to define the fear of the Lord or the fear of God is as the reverent Love a child feels toward a father with whom they have a very good relationship based on friendship, respect, and admiration. So, the fear of God is not being afraid of God, but rather the knowledge of the Holy One. This means having an intimate relationship with Him, for only then can one have knowledge of His Holiness.

This type of fear, this type of relationship, is the beginning of wisdom and contains a precious promise: For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

This wisdom and fear of God can only be obtained through a close and constant relationship with your heavenly Father through prayer, worship, and reading and meditating on His Word. And while all of this requires dedication and consistency, these are NOT the product of an acquired obligation but of a cultivated relationship.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

(Matthew 11:28, KJV)

Every relationship with God, whether to acquire wisdom or to obtain mercy, is based on the Love He feels for you and not on the fulfillment of duties or assigned tasks. In fact, Jesus is more than willing to help you with your burdens and labors.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not

his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17, KJV)

God loves you so much that He preferred to give up His own Son to pay for all your sins rather than lose you. Jesus came to save you, never to condemn you!

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1, NIV)

The only interest God has in you is to relate to you in such a personal way that you learn to look at Him as your true Father.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Romans 8:15, KJV)

Therefore, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and this means: having a relationship of intimate trust, respect, and admiration with your heavenly Father.

O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. (Psalm 84:12, KJV)

It is this fear of God, this trust, that guarantees you a blessed life. It is this principle of wisdom—and not money or success—which is the only thing that can give you the joy and bliss of living the life you were meant to live.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6, KJV)

The good news today is that the Way of wisdom is open, and it is a Way of Life and Truth.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:19-22, KJV)

That’s right, my beloved, through the sacrifice of Love by Christ Jesus, you have every right and the freedom to enter the place of His Presence. You can draw near to God, your Father, with full assurance of faith that He will not reject you. If He didn't reject you before, He certainly won't now that you are His legitimate Child.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:4-6, KJV)

The fear of God is that love, gratitude, reverence, and admiration that you feel for the One who has loved you so much. It is part of your New Nature and moves you to pray and read the Bible as the base, the foundation, of your relationship with Him. This IS the beginning of Wisdom!

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8, KJV)

So, whatever problem, illness, or situation you are facing today, face it with wisdom. Do not stop praying and talking with your heavenly Father. Put the Word of God in your mind, mouth, and heart. And prepare to emerge as more than a conqueror in all things, for your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

You will make your way prosperous, and everything will go well for you!

Let’s pray out loud:

Beloved heavenly Father, how beautiful it is to know I am so loved by You. Thank You for such a great Love! Truly, I am very grateful. Thank You because the beginning of wisdom is this Love that relates You and me. Thank You for making me Your Child. Thank You because despite my circumstances, You multiply my days and add years of life to me. Lord Jesus, through Your sacrifice of Love, through Your precious Blood shed to the last drop, I have now passed from death to life and You have transferred me from darkness into Your

marvelous Light! I can live the Life You bought for me! So, in every problem, illness, or affliction, I,                           (your name here), am more than a conqueror, for I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me; and though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I WILL FEAR no evil because You, Jesus, are with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. I am healed! I am free! I am prosperous! I am blessed! I am a Born-Again Child of God! In Jesus' name. Amen.

Important Note:

How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the Almighty?

Just say the following prayer aloud, putting all your attention and heart into what you are saying to God:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. That You came into this world, born of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my heart to You and invite You in because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my God, my King, and my Lord.

Thank You, Almighty God, because with this simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Three Recommendations:

What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, according to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore, I give you these three, very important, recommendations:

1.    Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice how God always responds to your heart.

2.    Read and meditate on the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, so get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day, look up the reading program “The

Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.

3.    In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based on the Good News, which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God

Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the entire Bible.

February 19    Matthew 1 / Exodus 20-21 / Proverbs 9 Matthew

1  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

2  Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

3  And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

4  And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

5  And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

6  And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

7  And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

8  And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;

9  And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

10  And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

11  And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

12  And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

13  And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

14  And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

15  And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

16  And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17  So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19  Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to

take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24  Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25  And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Exodus

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

2  I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3  Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6  And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7  Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12  Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13  Thou shalt not kill.

14  Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15  Thou shalt not steal.

16  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

18  And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

19  And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20  And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

21  And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22  And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23  Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

24  An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

25  And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

26  Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

21 Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

2  If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

3  If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

4  If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

5  And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

6  Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

7  And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

8  If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.

9  And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

10  If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

11  And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

12  He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

13  And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

14  But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

15  And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

16  And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

17  And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

18  And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:

19  If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.

20  And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

21  Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

22  If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

23  And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

24  Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

25  Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

26  And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.

27  And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

28  If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

29  But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

30  If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.

31  Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.

32  If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

33  And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;

34  The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.

35  And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.

36  Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.

Proverbs

9 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2  She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

3  She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4  Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5  Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

6  Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7  He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8  Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9  Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11  For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12  If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

13  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15  To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16  Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17  Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18  But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
