What is the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus?
You Are a Child of God! You Are a Child of the New Covenant!
By Riqui Ricón*
And he took bread,
and gave thanks,
and brake it, and gave unto them, saying,
This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise
also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood,
which is shed for you. (Luke 22:19-20, KJV)
Today, there are many believers who do not have a correct
understanding of the meaning of the New Covenant that Jesus Christ referred to
when He instituted the Holy Supper. Many think it refers to the life you can
now lead based on the New Testament of your Bible; others go as far as to claim
that their lives are no longer governed by the law of the Old Testament
but by the Grace of the New Testament.
Today's Bible reading
offers us a good moment to reflect
on what the New Covenant truly
is and what it signifies.
The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
(John 10:10, KJV)
The problem with ignoring the true meaning
of the New Covenant arises when
you realize that the prevailing reality in your life is an absence or lack of
that abundance or fullness of life that you should be experiencing according to
the words of Jesus Christ.
What is happening? You are unaware of what
the New Covenant is and, therefore, without knowing
or wanting to, you surrender
to the adversary the right
you have to live a full and abundant life.
Let's look at the promise
of the New Covenant and its implications in the Old Testament.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I
will make a new covenant with the house of
Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made
with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of
the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto
them, saith the Lord: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put
my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall
teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know
the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest
of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember
their sin no more. (Jeremiah 31:31-34, KJV)
By promising a New Covenant, God committed to doing something so absolute and
powerful that it would definitively remove sin from the middle of your
relationship with Him. God promised that He would put His Law—the Word— in your
mind and heart. According to God, this would mean a change so deep and internal
in your being that you would no longer need to be taught about Him because a
relationship as intimate as that of a Father with his child would be
established between you and Him.
However, the issue of sin was still pending
resolution.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans
6:23, KJV)
In order to establish the New Covenant,
with His own Blood, Jesus
Christ paid the just
punishment for your sins, giving you, through His death, the Eternal Life that
is an exclusive right of the Children of God.
For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John
3:16-17, KJV)
So, because of His Great Love with which He loved you, the Father offers you life and fullness through His Son,
Jesus Christ, instead of death and condemnation.
But how was this achieved? Through the New Covenant that acted in your life when you received Jesus as Lord and
Savior. According to what God established in His Word, the Bible, at that moment several miracles
happened within you:
A new heart also will I give you,
and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony
heart out of your flesh,
and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within
you, and cause you
to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (Ezekiel
36:26-27, KJV)
God resolved the matter of sin in your life in a drastic and
powerful way: the man (or woman) of sin would have to die, would have to be
destroyed, and in its place, God created someone totally new. By accepting
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you accepted the New Covenant in His Blood,
His death, and His resurrection. Then God, in fulfillment of His Word, made you a new spirit, gave you a new heart, and put His Holy
Spirit within you and with you.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of
God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter
1:23, KJV)
This, my beloved,
represents the Blood of the New Covenant—the essence of a Covenant
where God, through faith in His Word and in the sacrifice of Jesus, has made
you a new creature. He has made you
a Born Again Child of God, not from a corruptible seed, but from the incorruptible seed which is His Word that
lives and remains forever.
But now hath he obtained a more excellent
ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant,
which was established upon better promises. (Hebrews
8:6, KJV)
Because He fulfilled His promise to make a
New Covenant, established on better promises through
the Blood of His Son Jesus, you now have Eternal Life and are a Child of God.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new. (2
Corinthians 5:17, KJV)
You have Eternal Life and are a Child of God because, in fulfillment of the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus,
all your sins were paid for and God made you a new creature, creating TOTALLY NEW the
spirit that you now are. In this way, God gave you a NEW heart in which He
could finally write His Law and, furthermore, He placed the Holy Spirit within
you as a guarantee, to be your friend and helper.
In whom ye also trusted, after that
ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the
earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession,
unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14, KJV)
This places you in the true dimension of the
fullness and abundant life that your Father provided
for you, for this life is not about what you are perceiving,
feeling, or facing at this precise moment. Rather, this life is about what God
says about you; it is about the infallible and unalterable Truth of the Word of
God.
You are a Child of God! You are a Child of the New
Covenant!
Let’s pray out loud:
Beloved heavenly Father, how amazing is Your
Love for me. I thank You for having given Your Son Jesus as the just and
correct price for the redemption of my life and my existence. Lord Jesus, through
the New Covenant in Your Blood,
I now have Eternal Life and every right to make it a Full and Abundant Life.
Through the New Covenant in Your Blood, I
have been justified, forgiven, sanctified, and perfected to be made a Born
Again Child of God. Thank You! Thank You very much, Lord Jesus! Regardless of
the circumstances I am facing today, I now know that I will emerge from all of
them as more than a conqueror, because I am, indeed, a Child of the King and I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. So, I believe and declare
that I am healed! I am free!
I am prosperous to live a Full and Abundant
Life! I receive
Your Love! I receive
Your Joy! I receive Your
Peace! By the Blood of Jesus, the Blood
of the New Covenant, there is no way I can lose in this life! Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You
will notice that the program
is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News, which are
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Luke
22 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests
and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they
feared the people.
3 Then entered
Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the
twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains,
how he might betray him unto them.
5
And they were glad, and covenanted to give him
money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter
and John, saying,
Go and prepare us the passover, that we
may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we
prepare?
10 And he said
unto them, Behold, when ye are entered
into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing
a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house,
The Master saith unto
thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready
the passover.
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired
to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof,
until it be fulfilled in the
kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks,
and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit
of the vine, until the kingdom
of God shall come.
19 And he took
bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper,
saying, This cup is the new testament
in my blood, which is shed for you.
21 But, behold,
the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that
man by whom he is betrayed!
23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which
of them it was that should do this thing.
24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should
be accounted the greatest.
25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles
exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise
authority upon them are called benefactors.
26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he
that doth serve.
27 For whether
is greater, he that sitteth
at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among
you as he that serveth.
28
Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
29
And I appoint
unto you a kingdom, as my Father
hath appointed unto me;
30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom,
and sit on thrones
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 And the Lord said,
Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan hath desired
to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed
for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33 And he said unto him, Lord,
I am ready to go with thee,
both into prison, and to death.
34 And he said, I tell thee,
Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before
that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without
purse, and scrip, and
shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a
purse, let him take
it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment,
and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written
must yet be accomplished in me,
And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have
an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It
is enough.
Genesis
39 And Joseph was
brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain
of the guard, an Egyptian,
bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him
down thither.
2 And the LORD was with Joseph,
and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to
prosper in his hand.
4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him
overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5 And it came to
pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the
LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's
sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that
he had in the house, and in the field.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand;
and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And
Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
7 And it came to pass after these things,
that his master's
wife cast her eyes
upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
8 But he refused, and said unto his master's
wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house,
and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
9 There is none
greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because
thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph
day by day, that he hearkened
not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the
men of the house there within.
12 And she caught him by his garment, saying,
Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and
got him out.
13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment
in her hand, and was fled forth,
14 That she called
unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought
in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to
lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
15 And it came to pass, when he heard
that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and
fled, and got him out.
16 And she laid up his garment
by her, until his lord came home.
17 And she spake unto him according to these words,
saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought
unto us, came in unto me to mock me:
18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his
garment with me, and fled out.
19 And it came to pass, when his master
heard the words
of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner
did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.
20 And Joseph's
master took him, and put him into the prison,
a place where the king's prisoners were bound:
and he was there in the prison.
21 But the LORD was with Joseph,
and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour
in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
22 And the keeper of the prison
committed to Joseph's
hand all the prisoners
that were in the prison;
and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
23 The keeper
of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
Psalm
30 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my
foes to rejoice over me.
2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3 O LORD, thou hast brought
up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me
alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints
of his, and give thanks
at the remembrance of his
holiness.
5 For his anger endureth
but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping
may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain
to stand strong:
thou didst hide thy face, and
I was troubled.
8 I cried to thee, O
LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.
9 What profit
is there in my blood,
when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust
praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my
helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will
give thanks unto thee for ever.

29
And I appoint
unto you a kingdom, as my Father
hath appointed unto me;
30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom,
and sit on thrones
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand;
and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And
Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
7 And it came to pass after these things,
that his master's
wife cast her eyes
upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
8 But he refused, and said unto his master's
wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house,
and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
22 And the keeper of the prison
committed to Joseph's
hand all the prisoners
that were in the prison;
and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my
helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will
give thanks unto thee for ever.
