Much more than a Child of Abraham!
By Riqui Ricón*
When Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman,
thou art loosed from thine
infirmity… And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan
hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath
day? (Luke 13:12, 16, KJV)
The way Jesus
addressed this sick woman is very interesting and illustrative, as He did not say
"be free" or "I
loose you from your illness." Instead, He clarified and taught her something she
apparently did not know: she was already free from her infirmity!
In fact, one of the oldest
versions of the Bible, the Septuagint, expresses
it like this: And seeing her, Jesus called out and said to
her: "Woman, you are free from your infirmity." (Luke 13:12,
Brenton Septuagint)
What Jesus was teaching is that a daughter of Abraham is under the covenant
of blessing that God established with Abraham and his seed. Therefore, she has every legal and spiritual right to be healthy, because
God has never failed, nor will
He ever fail, His Word.
Now then, if the old covenant was a covenant
of blessing and it worked, how much more the New Covenant
in the Blood of Jesus?
How much more the New Covenant, which is a better covenant,
established upon better promises?
Christ hath redeemed us from the
curse of the law, being made a curse for us: (for it is written, Cursed is every one
that hangeth on a tree:) That the
blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we
might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith… And if ye be Christ's,
then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise. (Galatians 3:13-14,
29, KJV)
You need to understand that you belong
to Christ. In addition to being bought and redeemed at the price of the Blood of Jesus Christ, you
are now a child, a descendant of
Abraham, and an heir to the promise of the Spirit.
For as many as are led by the
Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received
the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself
beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. (Romans
8:14-17a, KJV)
The New Covenant was established with the express purpose of making
you a Born Again Child of God so that you never again live under the curse of sin, but in the blessing of God.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(Romans 8:1-2, KJV)
It is because
of all this that you can present
yourself with total confidence and security before your Father and
receive from Him EVERYTHING He has promised you.
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do
I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto
the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee. (Psalm
16:1-2, KJV)
Your confidence, guarantee, and full security
flow from the Bible, the Word of God, because He does not lie or change
His mind, and EVERY ONE of His promises will be fulfilled, without a single one
failing.
So
shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy
word. (Psalm 119:42, KJV)
So, whatever situation or problem you are
facing today, I can tell you with all certainty: do not fear, only believe.
For He who did not spare His own Son but
delivered Him up for love of you, He Himself
will answer you and give you ALL THINGS together with Jesus. God has
not left you and will never leave you.
He
that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall
he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans
8:32, KJV)
When my father and my mother
forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
(Psalm 27:10, KJV)
Can a woman forget
her sucking child,
that she should
not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not
forget thee. (Isaiah 49:15, KJV)
The absolute Truth is that God loves you so much that He preferred
to give up His Own Son rather than lose you.
For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John
3:16-17, KJV)
No problem, illness, or need you are facing
today is the will of your heavenly Father. What is His Will is for you to rise up and face those situations knowing that you will emerge as more than a conqueror from all
of them.
Beloved, I wish above all things
that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced
greatly, when the brethren came and
testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. (3
John 1:2-3, KJV)
The Word of God, the Bible, is the Truth, and the fact that you walk in the Truth always produces joy in God.
It begins by knowing
that God's Will for your life is good, pleasing, and perfect. Then, you decide to believe it because you know that God does not lie and that what He says in His Word, He will
fulfill, for God truly has a Word of Honor.
Finally, you act according
to what you believe and
know.
If the Bible says you can do all things
through Christ, then know, feel, and act as someone who can do all things
through Christ. If the Bible says that in all things you are more than a
conqueror, then know, feel, and act as someone who is more than a conqueror in
all things. If the Bible says that God loves you so much that He paid for all your sins with the Blood of His Son Jesus to forgive you and call you His child, then know, feel, and act like a Beloved Child of God.
The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
(John 10:10, KJV)
Use the Word of God! Put it in your heart,
in your mind, and in your mouth. Resist fear, anxiety, loneliness, sadness,
depression, poverty, sickness, and everything
that wants to steal your identity as a Born Again Child
of God, loved by
the Father. Now, in Christ
Jesus, you have every right
to a full and abundant life.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might
have peace. In the
world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the
world. (John 16:33, KJV)
What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans
8:31, KJV)
O Lord of hosts,
blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
(Psalm 84:12,
KJV)
Life as a Born Again Child of God will not be devoid of problems or afflictions, but you can trust in Jesus—He
already won for you and on your behalf. God is
with you! And if God is with you, truly, who can be against you?
In the midst of whatever
you are facing today, have peace and joy, and put all your trust in the Lord.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews
4:16, KJV)
So, come boldly today to the throne of grace
and receive help in your time of need. Receive your healing, restoration, and
deliverance in the name of Jesus. Put your trust in God; He is the one who
keeps you. You are more than a child of Abraham; you are a child of the only God, and there is no good for you apart
from Him.
Let’s pray out loud:
Beloved heavenly Father, I thank You because
today I know I can face any problem, illness, or need that comes into my life with confidence. Thank You
for such a great love, that while I was dead in trespasses and sins, You gave me life together with Christ. Thank You
because the life You have given me is Eternal Life, the Full and Abundant Life
that only Your children can enjoy.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, thank You so much.
Because of this, I am determined, with all the help that You, Holy Spirit, can
give me, to live this life in fullness, in the certainty of faith, and with
joy, knowing that I will emerge as more than a conqueror in all things. I
resist Satan! I resist his deceptions and lies! I am the person that You, my
God and Father, say in Your Word that I am! I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me! In all things, I am more than a conqueror through
Him who loved
me, Christ Jesus!
My God shall supply
all my needs according to His
riches in glory! A thousand shall fall at my side and ten thousand at my right
hand, but it shall not come near me, because though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You, Lord, my God, are with me! I am healed! I am free! I am
prosperous! I am happy! In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice
that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News, which are
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

16 Luke 13.1-17
/ Genesis 23 / Psalm 16
Luke
13 There were present
at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans,
whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans,
because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except
ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell,
and slew them, think
ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except
ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his
vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto
the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking
fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone
this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well:
and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
10 And he was teaching
in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11 And, behold,
there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together,
and could in no wise lift up herself.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman,
thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 And the ruler of
the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the
sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15 The Lord then
answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall,
and lead him away
to watering?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter
of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this
bond on the sabbath day?
17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the
glorious things that were done by him.
Genesis
23 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years
old: these were the
years of the life of Sarah.
2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan:
and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
3 And Abraham
stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of
Heth, saying,
4 I am a stranger
and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with
you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
5 And the children of Heth answered
Abraham, saying unto him,
6 Hear us, my lord:
thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre,
but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
7 And Abraham
stood up, and bowed himself
to the people of the land, even to
the children of Heth.
8 And he communed with them, saying,
If it be your mind that I should bury my
dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath,
which is in the
end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a
possession of a buryingplace amongst you.
10 And Ephron dwelt
among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham
in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that
went in at the gate of his city, saying,
11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein,
I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it
thee: bury thy dead.
12 And Abraham
bowed down himself
before the people
of the land.
13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience
of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field;
take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
14
And Ephron answered
Abraham, saying unto him,
15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels
of silver; what is that
betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
16 And Abraham
hearkened unto Ephron;
and Abraham weighed
to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the
audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money
with the merchant.
17 And the field of Ephron which
was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was
therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders
round about, were made sure
18 Unto Abraham
for a possession in the presence of the children
of Heth, before all that went
in at the gate of his city.
19 And after this, Abraham
buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is
Hebron in the land of Canaan.
20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace
by the sons of Heth.
Psalm
16 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness
extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints
that are in the earth,
and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows
shall be multiplied that hasten after
another god: their drink
offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest
my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant
places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in
the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall
not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy
right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience
of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field;
take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
14
And Ephron answered
Abraham, saying unto him,
15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels
of silver; what is that
betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
16 And Abraham
hearkened unto Ephron;
and Abraham weighed
to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the
audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money
with the merchant.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness
extendeth not to thee;
