What Is the Bible?
The Truth Is Eternal
and Unchanging!
By Riqui Ricón*
Therefore, we also thank God without
ceasing, because when you received
the word of God which you heard from
us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the word of
God, which also works in you who believe (1
Thessalonians 2:13, KJV).
The power of habit can play very bad tricks
on us, especially if that habit is based on a lie or tries to cover the truth. What do I mean? Specifically, I mean those
statements we make out of habit without really thinking about what they truly
mean — like saying, “The Bible is the Word of God.”
Certainly, if you are reading this
devotional, you know that the Bible is the Word of God. But does that really
mean anything to you? In that expression, there is no other meaning than its literal
one. Yet, the force of habit makes us
lose awareness of the commitment and the power
contained in those words.
The Bible IS the Word of God!
That’s why the Holy Spirit,
through Paul, gave thanks to God that a group of
believers received the Word of God as it truly is.
1.
The Word of God is the Truth!
2.
The Bible is the Word of God!
3.
To say that the Bible is the Word
of God means BELIEVING that the words in the Bible came from the mouth of God and therefore, ALL of
them will be fulfilled.
For example, if the Bible
says:
For God so loved the world (insert your name here), that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him (insert your name
here) should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son
into the world (insert your name here) to condemn the world (insert your name here),
but that the world (insert your name here)
might be saved through Him (John 3:16, KJV).
Then it is clear that God loves you so much that He gave His own Son rather than lose you.
Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should
be called children of God (1 John 3:1a, KJV).
If, because of the love He feels for you, God Himself
calls you His Child, then without a doubt, you ARE a legitimate
and authentic Child of God.
Beloved (insert your name here), I pray that you may prosper in all things,
and be in health, just as your soul prospers (3
John 2, KJV).
If God says in His Word that His will and desire
is for you to prosper
in all things and to have health, just as your soul prospers, then it’s
clear that no adversity, problem, illness, or suffering you are facing these
days is happening by God’s will, your Father. No! None of it!
Though my father and my mother forsake me, yet the Lord will take me up
(Psalm 27:10, KJV).
God has pledged
His Word of Honor that He will NEVER leave
you.
When evening had come, they brought
to Him many who were demon- possessed; and He cast out the spirits
with His word,
and healed all who were sick, that it might
be fulfilled which was spoken
by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He Himself took our infirmities
and bore our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:16–17, KJV).
On that cross,
Jesus Himself took your illnesses and bore your pains. Therefore, you have every right to divine
healing. By His wounds, you have already been healed!
Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and
Thy staff they comfort me (Psalm 23:4, KJV).
Even if you are in the midst of the
most terrible affliction, you can trust that God is with you. You
can BELIEVE and resist fear, casting it out of your life, because if God said it, He will fulfill
it; if God spoke it, He will carry it out. So, Do not fear, just BELIEVE!
Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them: because greater
is He that is in you, than he
that is in the world (1 John 4:4, KJV).
So, I have very, very good news for you: the Bible
IS the Word of God. The Bible IS the Truth and it is not limited
by your circumstances, feelings, or emotions, but by what God has already
determined about you.
Circumstances can change — and in fact, they
must change to align with the Truth. The Truth never changes! The Truth is
eternal! The Truth is the Bible, the Word of Honor of the one living and true God, who is your Father and loves
you.
Let’s pray out loud:
Beloved Heavenly Father, today once again I
am very grateful to You, for You have given
me the Bible, You have given me Your Word, and I can declare with full certainty and truth that
You love me, and that in Christ Jesus I have been born again to receive eternal
life. A new, full, abundant
life to live according
to Your will for me, which is good, pleasing, and
perfect. I believe and receive the prosperity You desire for me. I
believe and receive the health You desire for me. Lord Jesus, I believe and
receive the joy and peace that You purchased by paying with Your Blood the
punishment I deserved. You paid for me! I no longer have to pay. I will not
fear any evil, for in You I have already overcome, because greater are You, who
are here, in me and with me, than he
who is in the world. Thank You, Father. Today, in the name of Jesus, I declare
that I will live according to the Truth, that full and victorious life Your love has earned for
me. Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice
that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News,
which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

October 23 1 Thessalonians 2.1-16 / Isaiah 14-16 / Psalm 113
1 Thessalonians
2 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in

2 But even after that we had suffered before,
and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were
bold in our God to speak unto you the

3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust
with the gospel,
even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God,
which trieth our hearts.
5 For neither
at any time used we flattering words,
as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
6 Nor of men sought
we glory, neither
of you, nor yet of others, when we
might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
7 But we were gentle
among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
8 So being
affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because
ye were dear unto us.
9 For ye remember,
brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because
we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly
and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that
believe:
11 As ye know how we exhorted
and comforted and charged every one of you,
as a father doth his children,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 For this cause
also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God
which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth,

also in you that believe.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches
of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also
have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the
Jews:
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus,
and their own prophets, and have
persecuted us; and they please
not God, and are contrary
to all men:
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved,
to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the
uttermost.
Isaiah
14 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet
choose Israel, and set them in their
own land: and the strangers shall be joined
with them, and they
shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 And the people shall
take them, and bring them to
their place: and the house of
Israel shall possess
them in the land of the LORD for servants
and handmaids: and they shall
take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their
oppressors.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the
LORD shall give thee rest from thy
sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to
serve,
4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against
the king of Babylon, and say,
How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked,
and the sceptre of the rulers.
6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and
none hindereth.
7 The whole earth is at rest,
and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars
of Lebanon, saying,
Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth
up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up
from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we?
art thou become like unto us?
11 Thy pomp is brought
down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the
worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art
thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend
into heaven, I will exalt my
throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the
congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights
of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly
look upon thee, and consider
thee, saying, Is this the man
that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations,
even all of them, lie in glory,
every one in his
own house.
19 But thou art cast
out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through
with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase
trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be
joined with them in burial, because
thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall
never be renowned.
21 Prepare slaughter
for his children
for the iniquity
of their fathers;
that they do not rise, nor
possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
22 For I will rise up against
them, saith the LORD of hosts,
and cut off from Babylon the
name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.
23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern,
and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of
destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.
24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely
as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed,
so shall it stand:
25 That I will break the Assyrian
in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot:
then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their
shoulders.
26 This is the purpose
that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all
the nations.
27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall
turn it back?
28 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
29 Rejoice not thou, whole
Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's
root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying
serpent.
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall
lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with
famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city;
thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and
none shall be alone in his appointed times.
32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation?
That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
15 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste,
and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
2 He is gone up to Bajith,
and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall
howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on
all their heads shall be baldness,
and every beard cut off.
3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every
one shall howl, weeping abundantly.
4 And Heshbon
shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers
of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.
5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up
of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they
shall raise up a cry of destruction.
6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate:
for the hay is withered
away, the grass faileth, there
is no green thing.
7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten,
and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of
the willows.
8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling
thereof unto Beerelim.
9 For the waters of
Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth
of Moab, and upon the remnant of the
land.
16
Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of
Arnon.
3 Take counsel,
execute judgment; make thy shadow
as the night in the midst
of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the
face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the
oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 And in mercy shall
the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth
in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
6 We have heard of
the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride,
and his wrath:
but his lies shall not be so.
7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye
mourn; surely they are stricken.
8 For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken
down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer,
they wandered through
the wilderness: her branches are stretched
out, they are gone over the sea.
9 Therefore I will bewail
with the weeping
of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will
water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy
summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
10 And gladness
is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful
field; and in the
vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the
treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses;
I have made their vintage shouting to cease.
11 Wherefore my bowels shall
sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirharesh.
12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high
place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.
13 This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.
14 But now the LORD hath spoken,
saying, Within three years, as the years of an hireling, and the glory of Moab shall
be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be very
small and feeble.
Psalm
113 Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants
of the LORD, praise the name of
the LORD.
2 Blessed be the name of the
LORD from this time forth and for
evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.
4 The LORD is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens.

and the sceptre of the rulers.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly
look upon thee, and consider
thee, saying, Is this the man
that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations,
even all of them, lie in glory,
every one in his
own house.
19 But thou art cast
out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through
with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase
trodden under feet.
20 Thou shalt not be
joined with them in burial, because
thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall
never be renowned.
21 Prepare slaughter
for his children
for the iniquity
of their fathers;
that they do not rise, nor
possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city;
thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and
none shall be alone in his appointed times.
32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation?
That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
15 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste,
and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
10 And gladness
is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful
field; and in the
vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the
treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses;
5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth
himself to behold
the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7 He raiseth
up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth
the needy out of the dunghill;
8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh
the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful
mother of children. Praise ye
the LORD.
