How to Please God

How to Please God

Accepting the Price of Your Happiness and Joy

By Riqui Ricón*

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD: from the ends of the earth we hear singing, “Glory to the righteous One”; ye shall glorify the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea (Isa 24:14-15 KJV).

One of the most beautiful and comforting experiences any parent can have is to see and hear the joy of their children. Hearing the laughter and singing of our little ones delights the heart, for the happiness of our children brings us great pleasure.

God is your Father who loves you, and the Bible, His Word, establishes that there is a simple way to please Him—a way to draw a smile of satisfaction on the face of the Almighty: through your FAITH.

In fact, without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him (Heb 11:6 NIV).

Faith is the only way to please God: believing Him and believing His Word.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

(Heb 11:1 KJV).

When reflecting on the definition of FAITH given in the Bible, some questions may come up, especially if you face difficult circumstances: How can I have CERTAINTY of my health when I experience symptoms, pain, and medical tests confirming a serious illness? How can I be CONVINCED I will manage my

financial obligations when I’ve just lost my job or my income is insufficient? How can I have CERTAINTY about what I’m asking God for and be CONVINCED of things I do not yet see when what I DO see is the reality of adverse circumstances?

God is not like mortals: He does not lie or change His mind. When He says something, He fulfills it. When He makes a promise, He keeps it (Num 23:19 KJV).

The answer to all these questions is very simple: all you need to do is find in the Bible, God’s Word, a promise He has made regarding the need you are facing. Then you can be 100% sure that God will fulfill what He promised, because heaven and earth will pass away before He fails to keep His Word.

I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live (Ps 116:1-2 KJV).

If today you are facing a problem, distress, or illness, do not stop praying to your Heavenly Father, reminding Him of the promises He has made in His Word. Everything you pray in accordance with the Bible IS in line with God’s will, and that guarantees His answer.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him (1 Jn 5:14-15 KJV).

By believing God and His Word, you are guaranteed a divine answer—and more importantly, you bring joy to your Heavenly Father when you ask and receive in FAITH.

Having this attitude toward God and His Word will always lead you joyfully into His presence.

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit (1 Thess 5:16-18 KJV).

As you can see, God’s plan for your life has always been for you to live a happy and full life. He ensured that through FAITH in His Son Jesus Christ [believing God, believing His Word], you have access to that blessed life.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (Jn 10:10 KJV).

It is therefore essential to accept and recognize that the Blood and Life of Jesus is the just price paid for your redemption and salvation. Being redeemed means you were bought with the Blood of Jesus, released from a life of slavery to sin and death into freedom. Being saved means being transferred from a state of death and condemnation to a state of eternal life and total fulfillment.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Rom 12:2 KJV).

When you understand that the will of the Almighty God for your life is good, pleasing, and perfect, you can trust and rest in His Word, allowing the joy of the Lord to fill your spirit and heart.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6-7 KJV).

Instead of worrying, pray to your Heavenly Father according to His Word and rest, trusting that He will certainly answer you.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (Jn 3:16-17 KJV).

God loves you so much that He preferred to give His own Son to pay the consequences of your sins rather than lose you. Jesus did not come to condemn you but to offer you a full and abundant life.

You are now a beloved child of God, a child of light, and you can be confident that neither death, life, angels, principalities, powers, things present, things to

come, heights, depths, nor any other created thing can separate you from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus your Lord.

Rejoice not, for the joy of the LORD is your strength (Neh 8:10 KJV).

There is therefore no reason, no poverty, illness, death, or evil that should allow anxiety or fear to affect your life, giving room to sadness or depression.

Your Heavenly Father wants to see you joyful, and if you truly want to please Him, all you need to do is believe and receive the full and abundant life He paid for you. Remember, Jesus paid the just price!

Let’s pray out loud:

Beloved Heavenly Father, today I want to once again thank You for the great and boundless love You have for me. Thank You that, even though I was dead in my sins, You gave me life together with Christ Jesus. By Your Grace I am saved through FAITH [believing You, believing Your Word], and neither the FAITH nor the Grace are mine, but gifts of Your Love for me. Thank You because in Your Word, the Bible, You have made more than three thousand promises that affect every area of my existence, and all these promises are “Yes and Amen” for those of us who believe You, who trust Your Word. I desire that today (and every day of my life), I may please You; therefore, I determine today, with Your help, Holy Spirit, to believe, receive, and live that full and abundant life You purchased for me at the price of Your own life, Lord Jesus. So I resist fear and will not give place to doubt or discouragement. I believe and declare that I am healthy, I am free, I am prosperous, I am joyful! I am a legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again! In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Important Note:

How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the Almighty?

Just say the following prayer aloud, putting all your attention and heart into what you are saying to God:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. That You came into this world, born of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my heart to You and invite You in because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my God, my King, and my Lord.

Thank You, Almighty God, because with this simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Three Recommendations:

What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, according to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore, I give you these three, very important, recommendations:

1.    Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice how God always responds to your heart.

2.    Read and meditate on the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, so get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day, look up the reading program “The

Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.

3.    In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based on the Good News, which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

October 26    1 Thessalonians 5 / Isaiah 23-24 / Psalm 116

1 Thessalonians

5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12  And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13  And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14  Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15  See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16  Rejoice evermore.

17  Pray without ceasing.

18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19  Quench not the Spirit.

20  Despise not prophesyings.

21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25  Brethren, pray for us.

26  Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27  I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Isaiah

23 The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

2  Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.

3  And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a mart of nations.

4  Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.

5  As at the report concerning Egypt, so shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.

6  Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.

7  Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn.

8  Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?

9  The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.

10  Pass through thy land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: there is no more strength.

11  He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.

12  And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest.

13  Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.

14  Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste.

15  And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.

16  Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.

17  And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.

18  And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

24 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

2  And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

3  The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

4  The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

5  The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

6  Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

7  The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

8  The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

9  They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

10  The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

11  There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

12  In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

13  When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

14  They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

15  Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

16  From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

17  Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

18  And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

19  The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

20  The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

21  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

22  And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

23  Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

Psalm

116 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

2  Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3  The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4  Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5  Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

6  The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

7  Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8  For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9  I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10  I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11  I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12  What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

13  I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

14  I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

15  Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

16  O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17  I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

18  I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

19  In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
