What to Do When Everything Seems Lost?

<ESPAÑOL>

October 3st

What to Do When Everything Seems Lost?

Hold On to the Word of Honor!

By Riqui Ricón*

When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly enraged, and he mocked the Jews. And he spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore things for themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, burned as they are?” Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall.” (Nehemiah 4:1-3 KJV)

Today, no matter what your enemies say, do not fear, only BELIEVE! This was the answer Jesus gave to Jairus when he received the news that his daughter had died and was told not to trouble the Teacher any longer.

Remember that Jairus had faith; he believed that Jesus would save his dying daughter, which is why he went and asked Jesus for help. Jesus told him He would go with him to heal his daughter, and they set out for his house. At that moment, Jairus not only had hope, but he also HAD the Word of Jesus. But, halfway there, as often happens, the bad news came that his daughter had died; words of death, destruction, and hopelessness were spoken.

And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him... While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. And

when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. (Mark 5:21-24, 35-43 KJV)

Now, in the scripture at the beginning of this reflection, we find that Nehemiah is a prototype of Jesus Christ and, therefore, a prototype of you. He had a dream or vision—to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem; he had faith, for he knew God was with him; he had purpose, for he had been authorized by the king.

But suddenly, his enemies, who seemed stronger than him, rose up to declare failure, fear, weakness, helplessness, doubt, etc., over him and his purpose.

Doesn’t this kind of opposition sound familiar?

What should you do when you have had faith to ask and believe that God will help you in that difficult situation, and suddenly it seems that nothing will happen or, on the contrary, everything will get worse? Act like Nehemiah— keep believing! Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Because He has never abandoned anyone, and you will never be put to shame for trusting in His Word.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

(Ephesians 6:10 KJV)

What is the power of God’s might? It’s not the angels, nor His strong arm, nor lightning and thunder. How did God create the entire universe, the visible and the invisible? With His Word! The power of God’s might IS His Word!

So, strengthen yourself with the Word of God, and it will give you the faith you need to come out more than a conqueror from any situation you are facing today.

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:17 NIV)

Jesus said to Jairus: Do not fear, only BELIEVE! What strengthened Jairus to keep believing despite the news of his daughter’s death? The Word of Jesus! God is trustworthy! God has a Word of Honor!

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. (Numbers 23:19-20 GNT)

Everything God has said in His Word, the Bible, about you, He will do; everything God has spoken in your favor, He will accomplish!

Therefore, resist that spirit of fear and doubt that circumstances or the words of others want to plant in your spirit to make you stop believing and fall into discouragement and despair. Be like Nehemiah! Take hold of prayer, take the Word of God as a sword, your faith as a shield, and fight the good fight, for we are at war.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12 KJV)

Lay hold of Eternal Life! Lay hold of your True Identity, for now, through Christ Jesus, you are a Child of God, Born Again, and you are loved by God.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63 KJV)

Only the Word of God can produce Life in you, no matter how difficult the circumstances may seem.

Never give up! Never give place in your life to the devilish attitude of resignation. Always remember that God, the Almighty, is your Father who loves you! The Bible, which is the Word of God and does not lie, says it clearly:

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1 NIV)

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 KJV)

What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32 KJV)

So, remember: whatever happens, know for sure that you have already overcome. Say it out loud: I believe God!

To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. (Revelation 3:21 KJV)

No matter how you feel today, you have already overcome! The Bible says so. If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

Let us pray aloud:

Beloved Heavenly Father, today I come to You with total certainty and full confidence in Your Word. I am deeply grateful for Your Great Love. Today I know that You love me so much that You preferred to give Your own Son rather than lose me, and that, even when I was dead in my trespasses and sins, by this Great Love with which You have loved me, You gave me Life together with Christ Jesus; by Your Grace I am saved through faith, and even that is not mine but a gift from You. How Great and Beautiful You are, my Lord! How wonderful is Your Love for me! At this hour I agree with Your Eternal and Infallible Word to believe and declare that, by the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus, I believe and receive my healing. I declare myself free from all pain and sickness. I speak health and wellness to every cell, tissue, organ, and system of my being. I reject all fear, for I have not received the spirit of

bondage again to fear, but I have received the Spirit of adoption and today I can say, Abba, Father. I set my eyes, emotions, and feelings on You, Lord Jesus, who are the author and finisher of my faith. I am healed! I am free! I am prosperous! I am more than a conqueror! I can do all things through Christ!

And, by the Blood of Jesus, I am blessed to live a full and abundant life. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Thank You for this New Life in Fullness that I now have. Thank You for my healing. Thank You for my health. Thank You for my prosperity.

Thank You for the love, peace, and joy that I now enjoy. Thank You because by Your Word, the Bible, without a doubt, I am and receive all this that I have declared before Your Presence. I am Yours and I have already overcome! In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Important Note:

How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the Almighty?

Just say the following prayer out loud, putting all your attention and heart into what you are saying to God:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. That You came to this world from the virgin Mary to pay for all my sins, and I have been a sinner. Therefore, today I say to You that I accept. I accept Your sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my heart and invite You to come in because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my God, my King, and my Lord.

Thank You, Almighty God, because with this simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Three Recommendations:

What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, according to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a

legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore, I give you these three, very important, recommendations:

1.    Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice how God always responds to your heart.

2.    Read and meditate on the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, so get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day, look up the reading program “The Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.

3.    In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based on the Good News, which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God

Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the entire Bible.

October 3    Revelation 3 / Nehemiah 4 / Psalm 98

Revelation

3 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

2  Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

3  Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

4  Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

6  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

7  And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

13  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

14  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

22  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Nehemiah

4 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

2  And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

3  Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

4  Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

5  And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.

6  So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

7  But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,

8  And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

9  Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

10  And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

11  And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

12  And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.

13  Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

14  And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

15  And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

16  And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

17  They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

18  For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

19  And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.

20  In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.

21  So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

22  Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.

23  So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.

Psalms

98 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

2  The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

3  He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4  Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5  Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6  With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

7  Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

8  Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

9  Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
