How to Overcome Problems, Illnesses, and Adverse Circumstances!

How to Overcome Problems, Illnesses, and

Adverse Circumstances!

Fighting the Good Fight!

By Riqui Ricón *

They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, ‘Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.’ But I prayed, ‘Now strengthen my hands. (Nehemiah 6:9, NIV)

Beloved, these times we are living in are very exciting times. Great miracles are about to happen in your life. You just need to be aware that, whether you like it or not, you are fighting a great battle called the good fight of faith.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12, KJV)

All the problems, illnesses, or afflictions you are facing today are part of that battle, and the good news is that you can make it a GOOD battle if you decide to fight it with your FAITH (instead of with your own strength).

And what is faith?

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1, KJV)

Maybe it happens to you like it used to happen to me: this definition of faith sounded very nice and appealing, but it didn’t help me much because I didn’t understand how I could be certain of things I cannot see. How could I believe I am healthy when in my hands I have the clinical tests that confirm my doctor’s diagnosis, which say I am sick with such and such illness? How could I believe that my family or my marriage will be restored when I see no possibility at all? How could I believe that I will succeed financially when my debts and creditors are drowning me? How can I be convinced of the answers I am waiting for?

The answer to these and similar questions can be found in the Bible.

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19, NIV)

The answer to your questions is beautifully simple. You can believe and be fully confident when you have God’s Word on the matter. That is, if you find in the Bible a promise of deliverance regarding your need—because God can do all things (except lie)—and if He has given you a Word or a Promise of help or deliverance, then you can be one hundred percent sure, completely convinced, that He will honor His Word, fulfilling it!

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35, KJV)

So, when you enter a battle with the certainty and full assurance that you will overcome, because if God is with you, who can be against you? That is the good fight of faith! You know that you can do all things, and that in all things, you will be more than a conqueror through Him who loved you, Christ Jesus.

And how do you know this? How can you be so sure? Simply because God has said so about you! In His Word, the Bible.

In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37, KJV)

So you can be completely confident, because this is what FAITH truly IS: believing God, believing His Word. Only from His Word can all certainty and all confidence come, because, after all, God has a Word of Honor!

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8, NIV)

Today, just like in the time of Nehemiah, Satan, the devil, can only roar his lies trying to frighten you. He is no lion; he only simulates and pretends to be one. His strategy is simple: if he succeeds in getting you to start listening to his lies, then your reality (problems, illnesses, afflictions, etc.) will begin to seem so large and overwhelming that you will stop believing the Truth of God’s Word

and start believing in the lie of your imminent failure or defeat, making you an easy prey to discouragement, fear, anxiety, bad temper, etc.

But that will NOT happen today, nor to you. You just need to pay attention to the instructions God gave Joshua the day he faced the greatest challenge of his life.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8, NIV)

Today you must realize that it is of vital importance to make the Bible the highest standard of your life. Put it in your mind, mouth, and heart! Read and meditate on it day and night!

From your reading and meditation on the Bible, faith will flow like a river—the faith you need to win this battle—and, as in Nehemiah’s case, no matter how difficult the work or how much opposition you face, you will move forward supernaturally!

So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God. (Nehemiah 6:15, NIV)

Fifty-two days! Maybe, like me, you don’t know much about the construction industry, but this I know: it is not easy to finish building a small house in two months (60 days); it takes many resources and personnel working continuously, sometimes in two shifts. How can one even imagine that the broad wall protecting an entire city could be completed in fifty-two days? Only with God’s help—and that, my beloved, is called a miracle.

The Bible, which is the Word of God and does not lie, assures you: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. (1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV) So, like Nehemiah, prepare to be amazed and to receive in this good fight the prompt help of the one Almighty God.

In those times, the enemies of Nehemiah and of God’s people, as well as all the surrounding nations, were humbled and realized that God was with them. This happened because one man reminded the Lord of His own Word, the Covenant established with Israel:

Remember, I pray, what you commanded your servant Moses: ‘If you sin, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey and carry out my commands, even if you have been banished to the most distant land, I will gather you and bring you back to the place I have chosen to be my dwelling.’ (Nehemiah 1:8–9, NIV)

I wonder, what will the Lord your God not do for a born-again child under a covenant established on better promises? A covenant established in the Blood of His own Son Jesus Christ!

Beloved, no matter your current situation, it is time to start believing God. This is the time to believe that the Bible is not a book of religion but truly the Word of God, meaning these are the Words that came from the mouth of God and therefore will all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will NOT pass away.

You are a Nehemiah of this time, left by God on this earth to defeat powerful enemies and to make people know and recognize that God’s Word is Truth in your mouth.(1 Kings 17:24) Your life, like Nehemiah’s, has a purpose and meaning: to establish God’s kingdom here on earth.

This may not seem to match the reality you are living, or it may feel too formidable to accomplish, but do not worry—the Word of God itself has the answer:

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all— how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:31–32, NIV)

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19, NIV)

All of this God says about you.

…If you can believe, everything is possible for the one who believes. (Mark 9:23,

NIV)

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12, NIV)

So, get ready to be amazed by your FAITH! By believing God, believing His Word!

Let us pray aloud:

Beloved Heavenly Father, at this moment I want to thank You for Your Great Love with which You have loved me, that while I was dead in trespasses and sins, You saved me and gave me life together with Christ. Lord Jesus, thank You so much for the Full and Abundant Life You acquired for me. I believe it and receive it! I am a New Creation! The old things have passed, and behold, everything in my life is New! Thank You! Thank You for Your Love!

Today I want to honor You by accepting and receiving this precious identity that You have given me as Your Son/Daughter. I believe and therefore declare that I am the most valuable one You have on earth. I have known and believed the Love that You, O God, have for me. I will not allow the spirit of fear and doubt to make me let go of what You so lovingly paid for on that cross: knowing and believing that I truly am a Son/Daughter of the one living and true God.

Therefore, nothing and no one can defeat me; nothing and no one can separate me from Your Love, which is in Christ Jesus my Lord. With You, I have already overcome the world. I do not fear! I am healthy! I am free! I am prosperous! I am joyful! I am ready to do great things, the same things that You, Jesus Christ, did, and even greater. I can do all things in Christ, and in all things I am more than a conqueror! Yes, I am joyful, for I trust in You. Thank You, Lord Jesus. I love You with all my heart. Amen.

Important Note:

How do I become a child of God? How can I establish a relationship with the Almighty?

Just say the following prayer out loud, putting all your attention and heart into what you are saying to God:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. That You came into this world, born of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have been a sinner. That is why today I say to You: I do accept. I do accept Your sacrifice on the cross! I do accept Your precious blood, shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my heart and invite You to come in, because I want You, Lord Jesus, from this day forward and forever, to be my only and sufficient Savior, my God, my King, and my Lord. Thank You, Almighty God, because with this simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life; I have been transferred from darkness into Your marvelous Light. Today I am Born Again!

God, now I am Your child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Three Recommendations:

What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, according to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore, I give you these three, very important, recommendations:

1.    Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice how God always responds to your heart.

2.    Read and meditate on the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, so get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day, look up the reading program “The Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.

3.    In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based on the Good News,

which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God

Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the entire Bible.

October 4    Revelation 4 / Nehemiah 5:1–7:4 / Psalm 99

Revelation

4 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

2  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

3  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4  And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

5  And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

7  And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

10  The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Nehemiah

5 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.

2  For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.

3  Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

4  There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.

5  Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

6  And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.

7  Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.

8  And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

9  Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

10  I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

11  Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.

12  Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

13  Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

14  Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

15  But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

16  Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.

17  Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.

18  Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.

19  Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.

6 Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

2  That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

3  And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

4  Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

5  Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;

6  Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.

7  And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

8  Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

9  For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

10  Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.

11  And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

12  And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

13  Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

14  My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.

15  So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

16  And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

17  Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.

18  For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

19  Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him.

And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

7 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.

3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.

4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.

Psalms

99 The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

2  The LORD is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

3  Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

4  The king's strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5  Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

6  Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

7  He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

8  Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

9  Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.
