Who Can Defeat You Today?
Even if they try a thousand times, they cannot — and will never
— defeat you!
By Riqui RicónIf the Lord had not been on our side—let Israel
say—if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they
would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; the flood
would have engulfed us, the torrent would have
swept over us, the raging waters would have swept us away. Praise
be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped
like a bird from the fowler’s
snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 124, NIV)
How wonderful it is to know that God is your
refuge and your strength — your ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, do not
be afraid; even if the earth shakes and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, your Heavenly
Father is with you.
What then shall we say in response to these things?
If God is for us, who can be
against us? (Romans 8:31, NIV)
Even in the midst of afflictions, God keeps you in perfect
peace!
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in
you. (Isaiah 26:3, NIV)
That’s right, beloved.
No matter how difficult or threatening today’s
circumstances may seem, you have God’s Word of Honor that He protects you
— and the evil one cannot touch you.
But now, O Jacob, listen to the
Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go
through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of
difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up; the flames will not
consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel,
your Savior.”
(Isaiah 43:1–3a, NLT)
You will pass through the waters, and He will be with you. The rivers will not
overwhelm you. When you go through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames
will not consume you.
Why does God do all this? Because
of His love for you. Just remember
that now, in Christ Jesus, you are His beloved son or daughter — and He is your
Father.
Which of you, if your son asks for
bread, will give him a stone? Or if
he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
If you then, though you are evil,
know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good
things to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:9–11, NIV)
He is your Father — your Papa — and He is good.
He
who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give
us all things? (Romans 8:32, NIV)
So then, if the Lord had not been on your side when your enemies rose up
against you, they would have swallowed you alive.
Now then, pay close attention
— because the problem with the spirit of fear is
that it pushes you to focus your thoughts and
emotions on the circumstances, on how
big, difficult, and frightening your problems seem, distracting and pulling your attention away from the promises God has made you in the Bible.
In doing so, fear weakens your faith, making you doubt until you start to
believe that God’s Word won’t
work for you this time.
When the disciples saw him
walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them:
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied,
“tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,”
he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came
toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink,
cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately
Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little
faith,” he said, “why
did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:26–31, NIV)
Just like Peter, if you fix your eyes on how big your problems
seem instead of keeping them on Jesus and His Word,
fear will always try to plant doubt and unbelief in your heart and mind — doubt
that contradicts the very Word of God.
The Good News is that you are a Born-Again Child of God. You are not one who
draws back to destruction, but one who believes
— who takes God at His Word
— for the preservation of your soul. (Hebrews
10:39, NKJV)
Through Christ Jesus, you are a child of the King! And by His Word, you are
convinced of this: that he who began a
good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians
1:6, NIV)
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again
to fear, but you received
the
Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!”
(Romans 8:15, NKJV)
The most amazing
thing about being a Born-Again Child of God is that you also have victory over guilt and
condemnation — those heavy burdens that once brought you so much shame.
This
is true because the law of the Spirit who
gives life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death (Romans
8:2, NIV). Now you can come boldly to the throne
of grace, that you may obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16,
NKJV). For if we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness (1 John 1:9, KJV).
It is precisely because
you now are a Born-Again Child of God that you have
been created to be like God—truly righteous
and holy (Ephesians 4:24, NIV).
Your old,
sinful nature died with Jesus
Christ on that cross. You don’t have to
fight against it to overcome it — it’s already defeated! It’s dead! Unless, of
course, you listen to that little voice trying to convince you — contrary to the
Word of God — that you’re still the same person you used to be.
No!
Absolutely not! Beloved, the only Truth is what God says about you in His Word:
you are what God says you are — a Born-Again Child of God, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and
abides forever (1 Peter 1:23, KJV).
That’s why none of your enemies
can swallow you alive. They will try, but they
will never succeed.
Let’s pray out loud:
Beloved Heavenly Father,
blessed is the man or woman who can put their trust in
You. And I, beloved God, trust fully and completely in Your Word. Therefore,
I will not allow thoughts or words of failure or defeat in my life. Lord Jesus,
I confess my sins and repent of them. I receive Your forgiveness and cleansing.
In Your Word, the Bible, I
have come to know and believe in the love You have for me. Thank You, Lord!
Because of You, I can do all things, and in all things I am more than a
conqueror. You are my keeper, and nothing and no one can separate me from Your love. So I receive
the forgiveness of my sins in the same
way I receive my healing and prosperity. Your Word is Truth, and I am free to
live the full and abundant life You purchased for me when You died on the
cross, paying for all my sins and rising again to give me eternal life. I will
not give place to fear or doubt, for I am destined to be blessed — a thousand times happy! A thousand may fall at my
side, ten thousand at my right hand, but it will not come near me. Beloved
Jesus, because of what You did for me, I receive no condemnation, for I do not
live according to the flesh but according to
Your Spirit. I am righteous! I am the righteousness of God! Therefore, I claim my divine
right to live a full and blessed life. I resist anxiety, fear, sickness,
poverty, bitterness, loneliness, and all depression. In the mighty name of
Jesus Christ, I, (your
name here), call forth joy, peace, health, prosperity, and freedom
to live a full and abundant life. Thank You, Lord Jesus —
You did it all for me. I believe it and I receive it! It’s mine! It is
my rightful inheritance in all righteousness! I will not let anyone or anything
steal what You purchased for me at such a great price.
Therefore, I accept
and receive my victory over sin
and all its consequences — sickness, poverty, depression, fear, and anguish. I
am free from them all! I am healed! I am free! I am prosperous! I am joyful! I
am a Born-Again Child of God! I will finish
this year in victory. I will be above and not beneath.
It will go well with me this year. In the name of Jesus.
Amen.
Important Note:
How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the
Almighty?
Just say the following prayer
aloud, putting all your attention
and heart into what you are saying to God:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of
God. That You came into this world, born
of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have
been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your
sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious
Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my
heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.
Thank You, Almighty God, because with this
simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness
to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your
Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live
defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Three Recommendations:
What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and
Savior of your life, according
to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer
as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a
legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore,
I give you these three, very important, recommendations:
1.
Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet
place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice
how God always responds to your heart.
2.
Read and meditate
on the Word of God. The Bible
is the Word of God, so
get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day,
look up the reading program “The
Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice
that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.
3.
In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a
Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based
on the Good News, which are
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God
Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the
entire Bible.
November 8 2 Timothy 4 / Jeremiah 11-12 / Psalm
124
2 Timothy
4
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge the quick and
the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and
doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure
sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto
fables.
5 But watch thou in all things,
endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist,
make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered,
and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and
not to me only, but unto
all them also that love his appearing.
9 Do thy diligence to come shortly
unto me:
10 For Demas
hath forsaken me, having loved this present
world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens
to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is
profitable to me for the ministry.
12 And Tychicus
have I sent to Ephesus.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest,
bring with thee, and the
books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward
him according to his works:
15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly
withstood our words.
16 At my first answer
no man stood with me, but all men forsook
me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me
the preaching might be fully known, and that all the
Gentiles might hear:
and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be
glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila,
and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Erastus abode at Corinth:
but Trophimus have I left at Miletum
sick.
21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus
greeteth thee, and Pudens,
and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit.
Grace be with you. Amen.
Jeremiah
11 The word that came to Jeremiah
from the LORD saying,
2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
3 And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed
be the man that obeyeth not
the words of this covenant,
4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of
the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and
do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I
will be your God:
5 That I may
perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing
with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered
I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
6 Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets
of Jerusalem, saying,
Hear ye the words of this covenant,
and do them.
7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up
out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
8 Yet they obeyed
not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them
to do: but they did them not.
9 And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of
Jerusalem.
10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after
other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have
broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
11 Therefore thus
saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which
they shall not be able to escape;
and though they shall cry unto me, I will not
hearken unto them.
12 Then shall the cities
of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto
the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in
the time of their trouble.
13 For according to
the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to
that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither
lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the
time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
15 What hath my
beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
16 The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree,
fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it
are broken.
17 For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee,
hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel
and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering
incense unto Baal.
18 And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou
shewedst me their doings.
19 But I was like a
lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had
devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof,
and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his
name may be no more remembered.
20 But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the
heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
21 Therefore thus
saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that
seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the
LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
22 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold,
I will punish them: the young
men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
23 And there
shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their
visitation.
12 Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with
thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore
are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they
bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.
3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for
the day of slaughter.
4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field
wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein?
the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our
last end.
5 If thou hast run
with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with
horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling
of Jordan?
6 For even thy
brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair
words unto thee.
7 I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand
of her enemies.
8 Mine heritage
is unto me as a lion in the forest;
it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.
9 Mine heritage is
unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.
10 Many pastors
have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden
my portion under foot, they
have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
11 They have made it desolate, and being desolate
it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because
no man layeth it to heart.
12 The spoilers are
come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour
from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have
peace.
13 They have sown
wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed
of your revenues
because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit;
Behold, I will pluck
them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
15 And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and
will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people,
to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my
people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.
17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

heart to You and invite You in
because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my
God, my King, and my Lord.

124
2 Timothy
4
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge the quick and
the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and
doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure
sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
Amen.
Jeremiah
11 The word that came to Jeremiah
from the LORD saying,
2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
11 Therefore thus
saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which
they shall not be able to escape;
and though they shall cry unto me, I will not
hearken unto them.
8 Mine heritage
is unto me as a lion in the forest;
it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.
14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit;
Psalm
124 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel
say;
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against
us:
3 Then they had swallowed
us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream
had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our
soul.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped
as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
