How to Reach Victory!

By Believing God!

By Riqui Ricón*

For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV)

Beloved, according to the Bible—the Word of God, which never lies—when you accepted Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, all your sins were paid for; therefore, you were justified, forgiven, and sanctified.

God did all this out of love for you, with the sole purpose that you might receive the gift of Eternal Life by being Born Again as a son or daughter of the King.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV)

It is through this wonderful act of the New Birth that you have been made into a new kind of being—one that never existed before—and you have not received a spirit of fear. Instead, God has equipped your new nature with a spirit of power, of love, and of self-control.

You are a child of the King!

However, there are believers who, when they hear this revelation, respond by thinking, “Well, if I’m honest, I do love God with all my heart, but I don’t feel holy, or righteous, and I don’t notice any kind of power or love in my life. I’m still fighting against my old nature.”

So pay close attention to this short reflection from today’s readings, because

here lies the key to success in living a life of power, love, and self-control!

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8–9, NIV)

The New Nature, just like salvation, is received by faith—by believing God, by believing His Word. You don’t receive it because of what you’ve done or what you will do, nor because of how you feel about yourself; you receive it when you believe it simply because God says so. And if God says it, then you believe it, accept it, and receive it.

For example, no matter how you see yourself or how you feel today, the only Truth is this:

You are God’s beloved. God loves you so much that He chose to give His own

Son rather than lose you!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16–17, KJV)

By your faith—by believing God and believing His Word—you have been born of God. You are a true and legitimate child of God, born again.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. (1 John 5:1a, NIV)

You were born again not from a corruptible seed, but from the incorruptible

seed—the Word of God, which lives and remains forever.

You have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. (1 Peter 1:23, NIV)

So then, what really matters is not what you feel, experience, or show through your actions, because that’s not the Truth. The Truth is what God has declared about you in His Word, for all His Word is Truth.

So we are always confident, knowing that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord—for we walk by faith [by believing God, believing His Word], not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:6–7, KJV)

Therefore, the key to success is to know and believe that what God says in the Bible about you is the Truth, and that it is completely fulfilled—because

heaven and earth would pass away before God’s Word could ever fail.

That’s why without faith—without believing God and believing His Word—it is impossible to please Him.

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:17, NIV)

Therefore, I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God [just as Jesus lived, by believing God and believing His Word], who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20, NIV)

Your old sinful nature is dead—it was nailed to the cross—and if you try to

fight against it, you won’t win, because it’s already defeated! It’s dead! Do you

understand?

The problem is that the devil will try, at all costs, to convince you that you’re still the same person you used to be. And if you believe him instead of believing your heavenly Father, Satan will make you feel like a failure and drag you into the territory of condemnation, giving you a sense of guilt instead of the awareness of righteousness in Christ Jesus.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. (1 Peter 5:8–9a, NIV)

Remember, the only weapon Satan can use against you is the lie—and it only gains power when you start believing it.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4, NIV)

You are a born-again child of God, and the only way Satan can defeat someone as strong, powerful, and formidable as you is by deceiving you—by convincing you to believe, with all your heart, that you are weak and insignificant compared to him.

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they

have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3–5, NIV)

Your faith in the Word of God—believing that what He says is true—is the powerful weapon by which you can overcome the spirit of fear and unbelief that tries to deceive you.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4, NIV)

You are a born-again child of God, and you overcome this world of evil, gaining victory through your faith—by believing God and believing His Word.

It is through your faith—by believing God and believing His Word—that you call things that are not as though they were, and you begin to receive and establish what God has already decreed about you from eternity. For example:

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1, NIV)

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father!” (Romans 8:15, NIV)

So whatever situation, problem, or sickness you are facing today—you decide!

Who are you going to believe?

For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV)

Let us pray out loud:

Dear Heavenly Father, I know in whom I have believed, and I am sure that You are powerful to keep what I’ve entrusted to You until that day. I will never be ashamed for trusting in Your Word; on the contrary, blessed and truly happy is the man or woman who puts their trust in You. In every situation, I lift my eyes to the mountains and ask, “Where does my help come from?” My help comes

from You, Lord Jesus, the Maker of heaven and earth. You will not let me stumble, and You never sleep—you are always watching over me. The One who guards me never slumbers or sleeps. Father, You are my protector; You are my shade at my right hand. The sun will not harm me by day, nor the moon by night. Lord, You will keep me from all evil; You will guard my soul. God, You will watch over my coming and my going, now and forever. So right now, I call forth all the goodness, grace, and mercy You have spoken over my life. I declare that I am healthy in every cell, tissue, organ, and system of my body. I am free from debt and will pay everything I owe. I call in the prosperity and abundance that You, oh God, have promised me in Your Word. I can live full of joy and peace, because nothing and no one can separate me from Your great love in Christ Jesus, my Lord. I believe, declare, and receive that: I am healed! I am free! I am prosperous! I am blessed! I am a Born-Again Child of God! Thank You so very much, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Important Note:

How do I become a Child of God? How do I establish a relationship with the Almighty?

Just say the following prayer aloud, putting all your attention and heart into what you are saying to God:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. That You came into this world, born of the virgin Mary, to pay for all my sins, and I have been a sinner. Therefore, today I say that I accept. I accept Your sacrifice on the cross! I accept Your precious Blood shed to the last drop out of love for me! I open my heart to You and invite You in because I want, Lord Jesus, that from today and forever You be my only and sufficient Savior, my God, my King, and my Lord.

Thank You, Almighty God, because with this simple prayer and profession of faith I have passed from death to Life, I have been transferred from darkness to Your marvelous Light. Today I have been Born Again! God, now I am Your Child! Now You are my Father! I will never be alone again! I will never live defeated again. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Three Recommendations:

What just happened by you recognizing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, according to God's Word, is that you have been Born Again. No longer as an ordinary human being, subject to the law of sin and death, but now as a legitimate and authentic Child of God, Born Again, exactly like Jesus Christ, who is now your Older Brother. Therefore, I give you these three, very important, recommendations:

1.    Pray. Praying is talking with God. So, find a quiet place where you can begin talking to Him about everything. Do it out loud, and you will notice how God always responds to your heart.

2.    Read and meditate on the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, so get a Bible and start reading and meditating on it. How do you begin? It’s very simple. Depending on the day, look up the reading program “The

Bible in One Year” and do the corresponding readings. You can get this program at: Through The Bible In One Year (palabradehonor.org). You will notice that the program is set up so you can print it as a booklet.

3.    In prayer with God, your Father, look for and join a Christian church or congregation where the Word of God is taught based on the Good News, which are the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Reading and Meditation on the Word of God

Do these daily readings, and by the end of one year you will have read the entire Bible.

November 5    2 Timothy 1 / Jeremiah 5-6 / Psalm 121

2 Timothy

1   Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2  To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3  I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

4  Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

6  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

8  Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

10  But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

11  Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

12  For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

13  Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

14  That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

15  This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

16  The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

17  But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

18  The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

Jeremiah

5  Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

2  And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

3  O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

4  Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

5  I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

6  Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

7  How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

8  They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

9  Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

10  Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.

11  For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

12  They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

13  And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

14  Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

15  Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

16  Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

17  And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

18  Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

19  And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your's.

20  Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

21  Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

22  Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

23  But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

24  Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

25  Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

26  For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

27  As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

28  They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

29  Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

30  A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

31  The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

6  O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

2  I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

3  The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

4  Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

5  Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

6  For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

7  As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

8  Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

9  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

10  To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

11  Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

12  And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

13  For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

14  They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

15  Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

16  Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

But they said, We will not walk therein.

17  Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.

But they said, We will not hearken.

18  Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

19  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

20  To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

21  Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

22  Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

23  They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

24  We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

25  Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

26  O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

27  I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.

28  They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

29  The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

30  Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.

Psalm

121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5  The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6  The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8  The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
